Brand Identity Package and Web Design

In the fall of 2022, the Senbazuru NFT project emerged with a heartfelt mission: to support the founder's grandmother in Japan following her heart surgery. Rooted in the Japanese tradition of folding 1000 origami cranes for a wish, Senbazuru created 1000 generative digital origami cranes to raise funds and spread a message of kindness and care.

To bring this vision to life, we developed a comprehensive brand identity that extended beyond their existing name and artwork. Our campaign included a cohesive visual identity, social media posts, and a one-page website.

Bringing Senbazuru to life was focused on clarity and purpose. With a tight two-week timeline, we developed the site on Squarespace to ensure rapid deployment and easy handoff to their team. Starting with a functional mockup in Figma, we moved swiftly to execution once approved.

Given the absence of brand guidelines, we selected DM Sans for its readability and modern appeal. To balance the busy digital origami art, we incorporated generous white space, maintaining a serious tone for the fundraising goal.

We delivered a cohesive and visually striking website, providing a strong foundation for Senbazuru's mission of kindness and community support. Additionally, we extended the color palette for their social media, using soft pastel tones and minimalist illustrations to appeal to their ideal audience (hopecore).

Results

Successful Launch — Within the first two weeks of site going live, Senbazuru achieved 7 sales.

Squarespace Limitations — Squarespace presented several challenges including limited font variation and sizing options, which I overcame with Custom CSS (sometimes you have to think outside the box, or “square” in this scenario 😂)

⚠️ Opportunity — Working with brands that lack established guidelines or a clear direction can be more challenging and time-consuming. It requires additional thought partnership and creative exploration to develop a cohesive and effective brand identity. Moving forward, setting clear expectations and building extra time into the project timeline for these exploratory phases can enhance outcomes.
