Next7 IT is a managed IT services and consulting firm based in Pittsburgh. They specialize in providing proactive IT support and solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, helping them transition from reactive approaches to planned strategies for better security, predictability, and reliability.
Next7 IT needed an updated web design. While their brand was already well-established, they required some polishing and updates to improve user flow and overall usability.
Understanding the company and their perception of user needs we an essential first step. We reviewed their existing site, gathering feedback on unclear areas to pinpoint opportunities for improvement. Using Figma, I imported the current site as a wireframe, allowing me to visualize and restructure the content.
I focused on reordering content and rewriting in plain language to enhance clarity, removed unnecessary sections, and added icons to break up dense text. Additionally, I integrated clearer CTAs to drive user engagement and sign-ups, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience.
Learnings
✅ Starting from Existing Designs — Not all design work begins from scratch. By building on the existing site, I was able to efficiently enhance the design and user experience.
✅ Importance of White Space — Incorporating sufficient white space proved essential for functional design, preventing the site from feeling crowded and overwhelming.
✅ Thought Partnership — Engaging in thought partnership allowed us to identify key areas for improvement and optimize the overall flow of the site for usability.
⚠️ Opportunity — Starting with an existing design sometimes felt restrictive. We achieved a happy medium that met the client's requirements, however a completely new design approach could have unlocked even more creative solutions. Nevertheless, we successfully addressed the primary issues of usability and clarity.
